Gone Country

You know you've GONE COUNTRY when:
  • One of the nightly rituals is a tick check of the animals and kids, and its no big deal because you keep the necessary tools to remove the ticks on hand at all times...

  • You start to itch because you have poison oak for the umteenth time in the last couple of months...

  • You go to church with pieces of hay sticking out of your sweater, and oh-my-word there's mud from off the horses on your HANDS!

  • Hay can be found in your pockets and hair at any given time.

  • You keep a pair of rubber boots in a variety of sizes on your front porch.

  • The kids bring in skulls, deer teeth, antlers that they found while building their fort:)

  • You use some of these "treasures" that the kids find as decoration in and outside of your house.

  • Not only are the everyday vehicles parked in the driveway, but the tractor and backhoe are too!

  • Cowboy boots are worn with just about everything.

As the song says, "she's gone back to her roots," I certainly have, and I love it!

Log Cabin Sneak Peak

This is a simple post today, I have so much to do today, cleaning, and laundry, and cleaning and laundry...You know how it is:) I want to get the inside finished so I can work outside today, its a beautiful day! I apologize for the poor quality of pics, I took them with my phone...My camera is broken:( Enjoy!
The kitchen...
The small house is an ornament (I have two of them) that used to hang on my grandma's tree every year. It's one of the only things I have to remember her by. I leave them up all year.

A view of the kitchen, the window lets me gaze out to the back porch, where there is a beautiful water fall. Love it!

My "Rooster"Scentsy warmer that sits on the stove, and my sweet little red duck from my Mama.

This is our dining room area, the wood stove is probably one of my favorite things about this room:)...

Isn't this old stove is so beautiful!

Ya'll come back now!

See, I Can Cowgirl Up!

I've been one busy cowgirl this past week. It all started on Monday morning when I put the horses out, I looked out to see that one of the fence panels was open! So, before the horses discovered this, I quickly got the tools and spent almost two hours fixin', claspin', twistin' and trimmin' the whole line of fence. By myself, a-thank-you!

A couple days later I was looking outside, admiring my fencin' job, I see Bailey grazing, and think to myself, "is she outside of the fence? Na, well, wait a minute...Oh my word yes! She is!" She started walking past a fence post and when I could still see the fence post as she stood in front of it,no, behind it, I knew for sure, they were out!
I hurried and threw on my boots and went out all calm like, cause I'm a cowgirl. Really, I was sort of freaking out at first, with horrible thoughts of horses running down the road, and me screaming for HELP like a crazy lady! That didn't happen though, cause I really am a cowgirl, and I rounded up the horses swiftly, all by my lonesome. BUT~Bailey and I did have a small RODEO, she was the bull and I was the clown. She tried to run back out of the field and my basketball moves came back to me as I stood my ground and guarded the fence opening. But I got-R-done in the end...Most likely with the neighbors laughing hysterically!
So today, they are both in the stall, beggin' to be let out. Needless to say I have to fix fence today...again. Bailey is the culprit, she has been leaning on the fence, reaching for greener pastures. She's my, firecracker, if you will. The feisty one...So, hot wire is going up, and we're going to be re-fencing the whole dern field in the next month, as soon as we get our taxes back. We'll have a fence raisin', ya know instead of a barn raisin'. Hehe! I know, I know, I'm so witty. Ya'll come back now!

How Sweet the Sound

Last night as I was laying in bed, I was thinking of the sounds around me and how a sound can be so soothing and sweet.

I love the sound of ...
  • A crackling fire anywhere, anytime.

  • The ocean and all that surrounds it.

  • Laughter, especially the laughter of the ones I love.

  • Birds chirping while they gather and peck.

  • Waterfalls.

  • Coffee brewing in the morning.

  • I love you.

  • My husband singing.

  • My children playing without fighting. (Seems rare these days)

  • A silent house

  • The creaking of trees in a quiet forest.

  • My husbands truck coming up the driveway when he's home from work.

  • Praise and Worship.
  • Snow crunching under my feet.'
  • Rain hitting a metal roof.

What are some of your favorite sounds?

All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.

New Year, Not Me!

Brice Creek Falls. This is a picture I found of a creek just down the road from
where I grew up.

My New Year’s resolution is to get back on track in all areas of my life, as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, a child of God. I grew up in a beautiful place, way up, in the mountains. There was a small convenience store/house a few miles down the road from us, Boyd’s Market, but that was it. So, rarely did a day go by when my brother and I weren’t playing outside making trails through the trees. I used to practice going off the trail, and see how quietly I could do it, you know without breaking branches, or crunching leaves. It must have come from hunting with my dad? I feel that this past year I have gone off through the brush a bit as far as priorities go, and sometimes going off the trail for too long can get you lost.

P: Put the Lord first, then family, then friends…
R: Remember what’s important
I: Imagine, and then make happen
O: Organize my life in all areas, time, home, car, bills, purse!
R: Realize, and make changes accordingly
I: Intentionally do things
T: Think of others more often, and let them know that I was thinking of them by calling them, sending cards, emails, etc.
I:Idle. Be still, breath, let God.
Z: Zeal. Find and create more zeal in life, through laughter, tears, affection & fun!
E: Exercise doing things I love. Horseback riding, playing with the kids, walks with Steve...
~+~

Just a real quick Not Me! for ya...(click on the Not me! link above to join the fun!)

This is NOT a redneck way to start a fire, with a ditch burning torch...NOT at all!

My husband is NOT the guilty redneck who thunk this up...I married a civilized man, with soft hands<3

I am NOT still in my PJ's drinking coffee and blogging at 10:30 in the morning. I have things to do, I couldn't do that.

I am NOT having Bunko at my house for the 2nd month in a row this Friday, adding stress to my NON-stressed days. I'm not crazy, I would never volunteer to do that!

The loft upstairs is NOT scattered with boxes of "CRAFT" stuff spread everywhere, begging to be organized and put away.

I do NOT plan on organizing those boxes today.

I must NOT log off now so I can do all that needs doin'.

Happy, Happy New Year everybody!

Luke 6:38 - "If you give you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving--large or small--it will be used to measure what is given back to you." (NLT)

Its the Final Countdown

The New Year is quickly approaching with only a couple more days until the countdown to 2010. 2009 went by quickly for us, with so many changes. Having just moved, I’ve realized (again) how much of a pack rat I am. I was opening boxes that had been in our garage since our last move, to find Martha Stewart magazines from as far back as 1997! Now that is sick! 2010 is my year to ORGANIZE! It’s at the top of my resolution list for sure. I love http://www.organizedhome.com/ I was taking a gander at the “Cleaning Grand Plan” to help me get my organizing groove on. First things first though, the Christmas décor needs to come down…

By the way, we had a wonderful time this Christmas, my parents and little sister came and stayed for almost a week! It was very sad to see them leave today; I hate good-byes! It never fails that I break down crying as they drive away, I hate it!! I stopped myself from going into an all out sob by sitting down and thinking of all the things I want to get done this week (tricking my tears by changing the subject). Yet still I could cry, but I’ll try hard not to. BIG BABY! I am truly blessed to have such an amazing family who loves and laughs stronger and harder than anyone that I have ever known.

On a lighter note: I forgot to show you my new hair, I went really dark. It’s darker than it looks in the picture...

Talk to ya soon, you'ns come back now!
